Our Story
We are a group of ladies who came together over 30 years ago in a Jr. High Cafeteria. Little did we know, that our love of food, music, laughter, and camaraderie would bring us together for life. Through the years and across all walks of life, we have shared birthdays, anniversaries, births, showers, sports, and kids. It was no surprise when our nation was falling apart that once again, we came together sharing food and drinks.
DFW Black Owned Restaurants began as our response to our community and culture in the height of our nation's crisis. Our goal of DFWBORS was to bring our community together to support one another and heighten awareness of Black Owned Restaurants in the DFW Area. Food has always been at the center of the Black Community; from slavery, to Sit-ins during the Civil Rights Movements, Sunday Feast at Church, to the tradition of family reunions and tail-gating at Football Games. Our community has always grown stronger and come together over food. It is one place when we as a community lay our differences aside and celebrate. With the support of DFW Black Owned Restaurants, our BOR’s have had an overwhelming response in a short period to our community uniting and supporting each other. As a result, we have been able to increase and circulate the black dollar in our communities here in the DFW Metroplex.
